First, what is a dashboard?

A dashboard is single place to track all the important stuff for a journey.

Big journeys like life, work and school. And smaller journeys like your wedding, hobbies and special projects.

A dashboard can help you navigate all of them.

Here are a few examples of our own dashboards:

Where to create your Dashboard

We used to make our dashboards in spreadsheets.

Which was ok but we wanted to create a tool specifically for making dashboards.

 So we did, it’s called:

When read to make your own dashboard, check out our templates in the Boardzy Board Library.

But first…

What is the 'Dashboard Your Life Framework'?

The ‘DYL Framework’ is a very simple process for creating your life journeys using dashboards.

It uses the idea of something we call a ‘Funnel Review’ to help you go from big picture stuff to the little stuff you do daily.

Here are the basic steps:

1. START BY THINKING ABOUT THE ‘BIG STUFF’

Important things like family, school, travel, fitness, projects, etc. Include any key notes, and add to your dashboard.

2. NEXT, BREAK OUT ACTION ITEMS FROM EACH

For each big stuff item, think about what you want to do about it, short-term and long-term.

Add to a ‘Working’ section of your dashboard.

3. AND FINALLY, SCHEDULE SPECIFIC NEXT STEPS

Add specific tasks needed to complete Working items to your daily to-do lists or calendar.

Those are the DYL Framework basics, but consider the following extra steps to maximize your dashboard:

Use a calendar to supplement

Track long-term to-do’s & events in Google Calendar (or other calendar app), add to dashboard when relevant

Add other helpful ‘modules’ to dashboard

Add things like Daily Schedule, Annual Events Calendars or any other module that helps you organize – see video for more details

Format to your liking

Use colors, highlights, bold and other formatting elements to organize best for you.

Update regularly, review often!

Update as needed, but we highly recommend doing this Funnel Review weekly to stay on track!

Congrats, you have yourself a Dashboard!
